New Moon Ritual: March 2026
We were all invited to a sprawling mansion complex by a well-dressed, affable man with a smile that made you feel safe. And when I say “sprawling” I mean gigantic. A modern day Winchester Mystery House. I’m not sure who owned it, I don’t think we ever met the person. Or, it was owned by multiple people.
The dream started when I was already at the mansion. It was a mix of Old World wealth and state-of-the-art sci-fi smart house. I don’t know how long I’d been there, but at the start of the dream I could tell I was already unsettled. Everything felt slightly off. Not quite dangerous, but close enough that you could see how someone could get seriously hurt by the automated systems. Or the jokes made by our host (hosts?) were bordering on cruel, as if they were being made at our expense. If we expressed hurt or anger at anything that was said we were made to feel ungrateful for having been invited into this beautiful retreat where everything we wanted, or at least thought we did, was provided.
If you’ve read The Magus by John Fowles, it was definitely giving off that type of “we’re being toyed with by rich bastards who get off on playing mind games.”
As time went on we felt more unsafe and tried to figure out how to leave. Every time we thought we found a way out it would be shut down. We eventually realized we were being constantly monitored. Even when we thought we were being sneaky, our host (hosts?) could see what we were doing. Every time we thought we figured out the rules of whatever game was being played, the rules would be changed.
At one point we managed to sneak our way further through the mansion complex than we had before and we encountered the man with the safe smile who had invited us all. He exploded at us. He terrified us. He threatened us.
All while keeping that smile that radiated safety and made you want to trust him.
He didn’t have to call guards - if there even were any - we just sullenly made our way back to the main parlor of the mansion.
I woke up feeling very confused. I felt sad. My chest felt tight. I felt an overall sense of being trapped.
I had to do some more divination to figure out what I was missing. I mean, sometimes the message that is shared is that things are not great, but this felt fucking bleak.
Finally, something came through and it clicked. Even though the host (hosts?) kept changing the rules of the game, we would always try to figure out what the new rules were. We thought we were clever, but we always let them have the power and set the parameters for how we engaged.
We would never escape that way.
The only way we would escape was to stop trying to figure out whatever rules they decided were valid in the moment, and start figuring out our own rules. We needed to stop playing their game, and start making them play ours.
